Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.
Personally I think Xmas has been ruined by boneheaded people who don't know the difference between an ex and a chi (and chi stands for Christ in Greek, boys and girls) and by bah-humbugging old Scrooges who would rather stand on the sidelines comdemning "materialism" than join the rest of the world in celebrating Our Holy Mother's second most important feast.
I would largely agree with you. I don't go in for condemning the "commercialism" of Christmas in my sermons - in fact, I must remember to point out this year (as I usually do) that people have to make a living and that if they do so by selling Christmas presents, or Rosaries at Lourdes, that is better than a lot of things they could be making money at.
Of course, you're right about the X in Xmas - but there is a lot of nonsense too - such as cards with snow scenes, victorian carriages or brussels sprouts.
Speaking of putting Christ back into Christmas, I found a great place to get religious Christmas cards. They capture the true meaning of Christmas with a Christmas message, a religious image, PLUS a family photo. you can order them here at www.truechristmascards.com and they ship within 3 days.

love the classic end zone show boating over the tackled santa.
Perhaps we should put the Mass back into Christ-mass as well?
Does he tackle for "Happy Holiday" as well? I hope so.
